Our Story
At Shuruno, the sea is more than just water — it’s a legacy, a way of life, and the very soul of who we are.
Born from a family whose roots run deep in the ocean, Shuruno carries the spirit of generations. Captain Mohamed Sharif’s father was a fisherman, and like many Maldivians, the rhythm of the tides shaped not only their days but their dreams.
Sharif grew up with saltwater in his veins. What began as innocent fishing trips and reef explorations blossomed into a lifelong passion — a calling to embrace the vast, untamed beauty of the Maldivian waters.

Captain Luffy has been immersed in the Maldivian resort and hotel industry since the age of 18, serving at renowned properties like Banyan Tree, Hotel Jen, and Velassaru for over 8 years. In 2017, he earned his Captain’s License, and by 2019, he had fully charted his course into the world of sports fishing. Known for his vibrant energy and deep local knowledge, Luffy brings a lifelong passion for angling to every trip — offering guests of all ages thrilling, unforgettable experiences at sea.
